The New Mutants - Reboot Part 2

Published:

Description

Created using :icon3dndc:'s X-Verse packages

The set features a couple (well, exactly 1) of the original new mutants and a few who would've been had they remained a team (sorry Wolfsbane and Magma fans... maybe in future image) plus the group's "Adult Supervision"

Warlock
Jubilation Lee - Jubilee
Kurt Wagner - Nightcrawler (Adult Supervisor)
Alison Blaire - Dazzler (Adult Supervisor)
David Haller - Legion
Laura Kinney - X-23

A couple of notes:

I just wish you could see the circuits in Warlock's teeth and eyes. :)
Jubilee probably would've been placed in the New Mutants if the X-Men hadn't been based in the outback when they found her (actually, she found them). :)
Kurt and Dazzler as "Adult Supervisors" - Kurt strikes me as the most patient and understanding in dealin with kids ("Look at me, Fraulein.  I look like the devil himself, but have you ever met a happier mutant?") and Dazzler would probably have an easier time holding the kids attention than any other adult.  If they don't pay attention because of her looks or celebrity, she can always drain the sound out of the room so that her's is the only voice they hear. :)
Legion - I ALMOST put Chamber in this spot, But Legion gives me more versitility. :)
X-23 over Wolfsbane - The team needed a fighting machine and who better to fit the bill.  I like Wolfsbane, but for my purposes, Laura's a better fit.

"Jubilee probably would've been placed in the New Mutants if the X-Men hadn't been based in the outback when they found her" - Nuh uh.  No way.  Zip it, dude!  Jubilee ain't goin' nowhere without Wolvie!  ...Seriously, if they'd stuck Jubilee in a group of people her own age at that point in her life, she'd probably have spent the whole time standing in a corner and muttering under her breath.  Also, from the creative side, since Jubilee was basically a Boom-Boom clone, the writers and editors undoubtedly avoided putting the two in the same group.

Anyway, I don't have as much to say on this one, in part because I have limited familiarity with Dazzler and X-23.  Warlock is lacking his usual bizarre appearance, which of course wouldn't translate to film either, but that's all the more reason to leave him out of it, since Warlock's quirky surrealism is what defines him as a character.  Similarly, Jubilee is missing her distinctive spunk.  Nightcrawler looks good, but his hand gesture, while it looks very natural, isn't exactly self-explanatory.  Legion... I feel like I should have a more in-depth comment about him, but all I keep thinking is, when did he get purple hair?

Despite my inability to dig up a decent complement, I did enjoy looking at this piece.
